Awsome place for soulfood. Love the dressing..all the food is always good. I suggest getting ox tails..absolutely love this place..I moved to Stockton and still drive down to get food.
Came in here a little before they closed with a friend the other day and ordered the smothered chicken, the meatloaf (daily special), and a whole mess of sides. We wanted the turkey but they were sold out. The cashier was friendly and suggested the smothered chicken.
The place had a few other customers at the end of the night. We took the food to go and got home and devoured it. I am not much of a salt person so it was a little saltier than I am accustomed to but I think it's right for most people.
We had rice and beans, greens, mac & cheese, and brussels. All the sides were good and a generous amount. I would definitely come back to grab to go again.
This place has some of the best soul food I've ever tasted. I always love ordering their combo plates as their cornmeal batter is very light and perfect for oysters and shrimp to go with snapper as a three way! They also have some of the best Oxtails in town if you ask me but you gotta get there early if you want some! This place recently move to the bottom of Adeline St a block of so from San Pablo Ave and now has a cute outdoor eating space available as well. Parking in this area isn't too bad, but occasionally a little tough to find one but well worth it as the food here is just "Amazing!"
